The SWR Som­mer­fes­ti­val takes place every year on the week­end that includes the hol­i­day Whit Mon­day, gen­er­al­ly in Stuttgart’s Schloss­platz. SWR, or Sud­west Rund­funk, is the pub­lic broad­cast­ing com­pa­ny for Baden-Würt­tem­berg and Rhineland-Palati­nate. They began the fes­ti­val in 2009 as a cel­e­bra­tion of their var­i­ous media programs.

The SWR Sum­mer Fes­ti­val thus includes a wide vari­ety of pro­grams, includ­ing spe­cial offer­ings for fam­i­lies with kids. You can vis­it stands that give you the chance to get to try your hand at pre­sent­ing the news and read­ing from a teleprompter, get to know the offer­ings in the online SWR “Mediathek” or media library, or play a game based on the famous “Tatort” police pro­ce­dur­al show.
