The Ger­man-speak­ing world’s largest show­case of French-lan­guage cin­e­ma takes place annu­al­ly in the Stuttgart region. As part of the Franzö­sis­che Film­tage, or French Film Days, more than 90 films are screened in cin­e­mas in Stuttgart, Tübin­gen, Reut­lin­gen, and Rot­ten­berg. There are also spe­cial events over the course of the week, includ­ing par­ties and talks by filmmakers.

The film fes­ti­val began in 1984 as an effort to build cul­tur­al bridges among Ger­many, France, and indeed all the French-speak­ing coun­tries of the world. It is an impor­tant forum for Fran­coph­o­ne African film. In the last 20 years, it has become a spring­board for young, as yet undis­cov­ered film­mak­ers who com­pete to win var­i­ous prizes.
