SUMMARY:Stuttgarter Flamenco Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Stuttgart Fla­men­co Fes­ti­val was found­ed in 2010 by Cata­ri­na Mora and Miguel Ángel\, two fla­men­co dancers and chore­o­g­ra­phers. The fes­ti­val takes place annu­al­ly in the first week of the sum­mer hol­i­days in Baden-Würt­tem­berg (end of July/beginning of August). \nThe first week­end of the fes­ti­val includes per­for­mances by pro­fes­sion­al com­pa­nies from Spain and local ama­teurs\, as well as a fan­tas­tic ball\, the “Gala Fla­men­ca”. In the week that fol­lows\, there are work­shops on fla­men­co tech­nique and chore­og­ra­phy as well as small­er evening events relat­ed to fla­men­co. SUMMARY:Stuttgart Pride - Christopher Street Day (CSD)
DESCRIPTION:Stuttgart Pride includes sev­er­al dif­fer­ent events. Stuttgart Pride’s most vis­i­ble moments are the parade and polit­i­cal demon­stra­tion on the last Sat­ur­day of July every year. Well over 100 groups march in the parade and thou­sands of peo­ple attend annu­al­ly. While the parade focus­es on polit­i­cal mes­sages\, it’s a fam­i­ly-friend­ly event where you can expect upbeat music and plen­ty of stick­ers and can­dy to be hand­ed out. The parade’s route varies but usu­al­ly includes the part of Tübinger Strasse close to the Ger­ber shop­ping cen­ter and fin­ish­es at Schloss­platz with a polit­i­cal rally. \nThat last Sat­ur­day and Sun­day in July\, a wide range of LGTBQIA+ orga­ni­za­tions also set up booths in Schloss­platz and near­by Schiller­platz as part of an infor­ma­tion­al fair. DESCRIPTION:Stuttgart’s Win­ter­traum is a fes­tive win­ter attrac­tion that trans­forms part of the Schloss­platz into a sea­son­al won­der­land. It gen­er­al­ly opens a week before the Stuttgarter Wei­h­nachts­markt in Novem­ber\, and the Christ­mas mar­ket gets set up seam­less­ly around it. The Win­ter­traum remains open through the twelve days of Christ­mas\, end­ing on Heilige Drei Könige\, or Epiphany. \nHigh­lights of the Win­ter­traum include the open-air ice rink and beau­ti­ful­ly dec­o­rat­ed stalls sell­ing hot drinks and win­ter treats. SUMMARY:Filderkrautfest - Pointed Cabbage Festival
DESCRIPTION:The largest point­ed cab­bage fes­ti­val in the world hap­pens every third week­end of Octo­ber just min­utes from Stuttgart in Lein­felden-Ech­ter­din­gen. The cen­tral event is a con­test for the best Filder­kraut\, a unique point­ed white cab­bage vari­ety which only grows on the Filder Plateau. It has been list­ed as an endan­gered species in the “Ark of Taste” by the Slow Food Foun­da­tion for Bio­di­ver­si­ty. The veg­etable entries are adorned\, weighed\, mea­sured\, and parad­ed through the streets in an effort to take home the title of “world cham­pi­on cabbage.” \nMore than 50\,000 vis­i­tors attend each year\, attract­ed by the won­der­ful pro­gram and deli­cious cab­bage spe­cial­ties – while you may think first of sauer­kraut\, you’ll be astound­ed at the many tasty forms this veg­etable can take! Live music per­for­mances span a vari­ety of gen­res on stages through­out the town. DESCRIPTION:There will be no Genusstage in 2024\, but hope­ful­ly the event will return in 2025! \nStuttgart’s sum­mer fes­ti­val gained a new name and con­cept in 2023. Pre­vi­ous­ly\, the “Som­mer­fest” was held around the New Palace and the opera house and includ­ed food ven­dors as well as live music per­for­mances.
