DESCRIPTION:The SWR Som­mer­fes­ti­val is a fes­tive open-air event orga­nized by the region­al broad­cast­er SWR. It com­bines a var­ied mix of cul­tur­al pro­gram­ming\, live music\, media-themed activ­i­ties\, and enter­tain­ment on and around a large out­door stage.  \nThe event takes place in dif­fer­ent cities\, but gen­er­al­ly hap­pens in Stuttgart on the Schloss­platz every two to three years. It is typ­i­cal­ly orga­nized over a long week­end around Pen­te­cost. Dur­ing the day there’s usu­al­ly a free-access fes­ti­val area where vis­i­tors can explore exhibits\, inter­ac­tive media dis­plays\, and casu­al per­for­mances. CineLati­no\, focused on Latin Amer­i­can film\, and CineEspañol\, open to all Span­ish-lan­guage cin­e­ma\, are both part of the Film­tage Tübin­gen\, which also orga­nizes the French Film Days. \nThe fes­ti­val presents new Span­ish-lan­guage films\, care­ful­ly select­ed to high­light aes­thet­ic diver­si­ty and pro­mote inter­cul­tur­al exchange. Fes­ti­val direc­tor and film pro­duc­er Pao­lo de Car­val­ho invites both well-known and yet to be dis­cov­ered direc­tors and actors to every fes­ti­val so that the audi­ence can exchange direct­ly with them. SUMMARY:Filderkrautfest - Pointed Cabbage Festival
DESCRIPTION:The largest point­ed cab­bage fes­ti­val in the world hap­pens every third week­end of Octo­ber just min­utes from Stuttgart in Lein­felden-Ech­ter­din­gen. The cen­tral event is a con­test for the best Filder­kraut\, a unique point­ed white cab­bage vari­ety which only grows on the Filder Plateau. It has been list­ed as an endan­gered species in the “Ark of Taste” by the Slow Food Foun­da­tion for Bio­di­ver­si­ty. The veg­etable entries are adorned\, weighed\, mea­sured\, and parad­ed through the streets in an effort to take home the title of “world cham­pi­on cabbage.” \nMore than 50\,000 vis­i­tors attend each year\, attract­ed by the won­der­ful pro­gram and deli­cious cab­bage spe­cial­ties – while you may think first of sauer­kraut\, you’ll be astound­ed at the many tasty forms this veg­etable can take!
